5 Tamils arrested in a week at Colombo airport

JDS reports 5 Tamils have been arrested in the past week at Colombo airport and are being held at a prison in Negombo.

Two men were arrested after being deported from Turkey and a man and a teenage woman who said she was on her way to joining her husband in Switzerland, were stopped before boarding a flight to Qatar, they were charged with carrying false travel documents.

Another Tamil woman was arrested on Thursday, twenty-three-year-old Jayanthini Siluvairasa, from Jaffna was arrested by the CID while she was going through security control at the Katunayake international airport.

She was also charged with carrying false documents and has been remanded until August 25th, said JDS.
